Improved safety of the 12V 100AH LiFePO4 battery

The P-O bond in the lithium iron phosphate crystals is strong and difficult to decompose, even at high temperatures or when overcharged, the structure does not collapse and heat up or form strong oxidising substances like lithium cobaltate, so it has a good safety profile. It has been reported that a small number of samples were found to burn during pin prick or short circuit tests in practice, but there was no case of explosion, while overcharging tests using a high voltage charge that was several times higher than its own discharge voltage still revealed an explosion. Long-life lead-acid batteries have a cycle life of around 300 times, up to 500 times, while lithium iron phosphate power batteries, cycle life of more than 2000 times, the standard charge (5 hours rate) use, can reach 2000 times. Under a special charger, the battery can be fully charged within 40 minutes at 1.5C and the starting current can reach 2C, whereas lead-acid batteries do not have this performance.

So lithium batteries are favored by the industry, mainly because of environmental considerations, so the battery is included in the “863” national high-tech development plan during the “Tenth Five-Year Plan”, becoming a key national support and encourage the development of the project. With China’s accession to the WTO, the export volume of Chinese electric bicycles will increase rapidly, and the electric bicycles entering Europe and America are already required to be equipped with non-polluting batteries.
